01 Nov Toby Keith Wins CMA Music Video of the Year for “Red Solo Cup”
Congratulations to Toby Keith and Director Michael Salomon, who were announced this morning as winners of the CMA Music Video of the Year for “Red Solo Cup.” The Music Video category, as well as Musical Event of the Year category, were announced on “Good Morning America” in advance of tonight’s CMA Award show. “Red Solo Cup,” a viral sensation with more than 18 million views on YouTube alone, helped push Toby’s 2011 record Clancy’s Tavern to Gold-certified status and was a mainstay on CMT.com’s “High 5.” The song “Red Solo Cup” was also covered on the hit FOX show Glee and inspired numerous covers and even a hip hop rendition.
Keith has received 28 CMA Award nominations in his career, and this marks his third CMA Award win. He was named Male Vocalist of the Year in 2005 and also won Music Video of the Year with Salomon in 2005 for “As Good As I Once Was.” Salomon won Music Video of the Year in 1995 for “Baby Likes To Rock It” with The Tractors.
Toby’s newest album, Hope On The Rocks was released earlier this week on October 30th and includes the hit “I Like Girls That Drink Beer.” Look for the single’s official music video on Reel 252.
The CMA Awards will air LIVE from Nashville tonight, November 1st, at 8/7c on ABC.
